Blaugust is coming
Friday, July 25, 2025It's nearly August, which means it's nearly time for the Blaugust Festival Of Blogging.
The premise of Blaugust is simple: a community of bloggers encouraging each other to post more duing the month of August, or to start blogging for the first time. While Blaugust was originally about posting every day, the "rules" are more flexible now.
Last year, I managed to post almost every day until I was rudely interrupted by the birth of my second child. This year, I have children to keep me busy, and a holiday planned, so I'm going to aim to post roughly every other day. But even 5 posts in a month is recognised with a "Bronze" award.
Some people approach Blaugust with a theme, giving them a topic to write about each day. I'll be taking the opposite approach, widening the scope of what I'd usually post.
If you want to get on board and give Blaugust a shot, you'll need a blog. You could use a big managed platform like wordpress.com or tumblr, or you could try one of the newer, smaller platforms like bearblog, micro.blog, or pika. Then head over to the main post to sign up.
