Hi all. It’s been a bit quiet from me recently, save the Digest posts composed of micro posts from my phone. That’s because my Pocket Reform, now my main laptop, has been off for repairs with MNT Research.

It was having issues with random boot failure and keyboard disconnects. But MNT support as great as always and sorted me out, free of charge. It just took a little while, not helped by UPS being a little unhelpful with getting the device through customs in a timely manner (thanks, Brexit).

Yes, I do have another computer. It’s a laptop, and it has pretty decent specs, but its build quality is poor and the shell is popping open all the time, so I just keep it docked upstairs now and, while I could use that for blogging and stuff, I generally don’t. I don’t really like disappearing from my wife and kids just to fiddle about with my website. The Pocket is handy and unobtusive, and I can noodle away in their company.

In the meantime, I’ve been dealing with sick kids. My littlest is one, he goes to nursery, and it has been the season for it. He’s just recovering from another round of sicknes right now, we’re hoping and figuratively praying that this will be the last one for a while.

My biggest turned four. We had a cute little party at our house with a handful of other little boys. They mostly amused themselves with the toys, but I did manage to engage them in pass-the-parcel, which for most of them was their first experience of pass-the-parcel (though I’m sure most of them were aware of the concept thanks to the Bluey episode).

I’ve been enjoying keeping up with my philosophy of tech “book club” thing, and when I’m up to date with that I’ve been reading Homer’s Odyssey, which so far rules.

I’m playing the classic SNES game Chrone Trigger, which is gorgeous.

Work is okay though stressful. It feels like I’m behind on everything, but everyone else I speak to seems to feel the same way.

Fitness ended up on the backburner due to sickness in the family, it’s been all hands on deck caring for them. Hoping to get back on that this week.

I started teaching my dad music theory. Not notation (as I suck at reading music), but about chords, scales, Roman numeral analysis, circle of fifths, etc. I set up an OBS virtual cam with Xournal++ as a whiteboard and an on-screen piano for demonstration. It’s fun.

Anyway, that’s my little update. Best wishes, over and out.
